About ***************************************************************************** This mod is a high resolution total re-work of the vanilla storm atronachs. The original ones were well done and impressive, but they need bringing up to date for the modern modded game. Key features: ~Complete hi-res re-work of the texture, normal map and glow map, keeping the original style, but with a much more solid grainy appearance. ~Most of the seams re-touched in Blender. ~Addition of a variable glow effect from the hotter more charged parts of the rocks. ~Material variables altered to give a harder, higher-contrast look. In addition, there is an optional texture-replacer provided to make the shock-effect look subtler and much sharper. Be aware that this will replace the shock effect throughout the whole game, so if you are already using a replacer, make a backup of it before installing. _______________________________________________________ 2. Installation ***************************************************************************** If you have any creature mods installed, I'd suggest backing up any files that this one replaces first. Copy the data folder(s) into your Oblivion game directory, clicking yes to replace/merge when asked. If you choose to install the optional Sharper Shock texture, do not click yes if the replace/merge window appears when copying this file over. Instead, find the existing file and re-name it to shockdamagebak or shockdamage1. Then copy the new file over. _______________________________________________________ 3. Known Issues / Compatability ***************************************************************************** The storm atronach creature is big, with many parts that need covering in textures. As such, this hi-res replacer will add even more strain to your game if you already have an array of mods installed. This mod is for higher end systems really, and may cause some extra lag in those battle scenes, so think about whether this mod is for you before installing. In terms of compatability, this mod may replace files of other creature mods, but should not cause any problems. The only exception I have seen so far is that some versions of the realistic physics and force mod include an alternative skeleton for the storm atronach - this mod replaces both the main NIF file plus the skeleton (which contains much of the geometry), and so installing this might mean losing some interactivity features (havok /collision etc.). If this bugs you, let me know via the comments section on the Nexus, and I'll see if I can make a conversion patch. If you are using a creature diversity-style mod, this will only change the vanilla ones and might not even show up in-game. If this is the case for you, let me know which mod you're using, and I'll see if I can make a patch. _______________________________________________________ 4. Contact ***************************************************************************** I check the comments section for each of my mods fairly regularly, so if you have any issues or suggestions, that's where to post them. _______________________________________________________ 5.
