Mod: No More Arrows in the Knee 1_0 Game: TES V: Skyrim Author: David Brasher Date: 2/9/12 ************************************************************************ CONTENTS ************************************************************************ 1. INFORMATION ON THE MOD ************************************************************************ This mod stops all the guards from repeatedly telling you about how they ended up in their current jobs. It just does not seem reasonable to me that every single guard in Skyrim used to be an adventurer. It does not seem reasonable that every single guard in Skyrim retired from adventuring because of receiving one particular injury. So here is a solution to your problem if you too are tired of hearing this one over-used line of dialog. ************************************************************************ 2. Installation ************************************************************************ Extract (decompress) the .esp to your Skyrim directory. (It will be something like *Installation directory*\Skyrim\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Data) Mark the box next to the "No More Arrows in the Knee" plugin in your mod manager. Alternately, extract someplace else. Then move the .esp to Skyrim\Data. Mark the box next to the plugin in your mod manager. ************************************************************************ 3. Version History ************************************************************************ V 1.0 2/9/12 Initial release. ************************************************************************ 4. Conflicts, Known Issues, and Troubleshooting ************************************************************************ Other mods already exist to deal with this problem. For example, there is "Arrow to the knee dialogue remover" by Lockyy. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8044 But I favored a different approach to dealing with the problem. I was not sure about some of the side effects of using other approaches. I feel that my approach will be clean, bug-free, and will avoid mod conflicts. The way this mod was built, is that on the famous line of dialog this mod disables, I placed an additional condition: If player GetItemCount IronArrow >= 20000. So if you happen to be carrying 20000 or more iron arrows, then you still have the chance of hearing the line of dialog. (But please be careful with all those arrows! For the love of Azura, please, please, please don't go shooting any adventurers in the knees with them!) In the CK, the infamous line of dialog is checked as random, and is that way in vanilla Skyrim. So the effect of placing a condition that will almost never be met on it is that it is usually disqualified and thrown out of the random selection process, and another random line of dialog will be selected by chance instead. Some people may feel that this is a silly and frivolous mod that just junks up load orders. Nobody is required to use this mod. If you think it is silly and frivolous, then that is a very good reason for you to not use it. If your load order is too full, but you want the effect of this mod, then maybe you could merge it into another of your mods. If you locate a bug, contact David Brasher on TES Nexus so that the situation can be examined and can hopefully be fixed. ************************************************************************ 5.
