Name: Rubber on the Road plus assorted glow-maps Version: 1.0 Date: 03/25/2019 Category: Model & texture replacer / Immersion Author: Nikoli Grimm Description ========================================================= ===================================================================== I originally made this for myself because I just couldn't buy the fact that while I cryo-slept for two hundred plus years, some radiation addled sod of a mechanic dragged a floor jack around the Commonwealth and removed almost every tyre from it's rim. They then replaced the rims back onto the vehicles and went off to remove the next ones. This mechanic then took those tyres and made little shrines of rubber, scattering them far and wide, rolling these twenty-five to one-hundred kilo hunks of rubber onto the sides of roads, down into rivers, and even out into the wilderness. I've cleaned up the meshes and added a bit more detail to the textures for a majority of the vehicles, adding flat and inflated tyres and/or partial interiors to some of the vehicles that were missing them. (I didn't add collision to the interiors in case something in-game was in the vehicle already.) I have no idea why Bethesda decided to remove the entire interior of most of the vehicles, it's not like that portion would rot away leaving the rest of it intact, nor did they use any of the parts anywhere else in the game. I've re-textured a few of the vehicles to a different hue than they were originally. I've probably been playing to much GTA, but the lack of license plates bugged me, so I added a futuristic version of the Massachusetts plate with a bar code design to most of the vehicles. If you see vehicles that look un-altered it is because that instance of the vehicle is being used in a pre-combined mesh. You can change your Fallout4.ini to allow those vehicles to use the new meshes by adding or altering the line in the 'general' section bUseCombinedObjects=0. This will disable Fallout from using pre-combined meshes, lower end computers might see a fps drop in high density areas because it disables all pre-combined meshes in the game. This mod works well with 'Homemaker - Expanded Settlements https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1478' which uses virtually all of the vehicles in settlement placement. The optional included .esl's are only needed if you use the re-meshed train, crows land on one of the trains near the Starlight Drive-in and the .esl adjusts their sitting height so they don't float in midair. One of the esl's only changes the crow landing height, the other does the same plus adds another train near the Gunners Plaza that had several railroad cars but no engine for a bit more immersion. The navmesh was not altered. Use one or the other, not both. The added train was placed on it's side to match the railcar pile-up that was already there. The vanilla collision for the trains have the bottom open, so it is possible to walk into the train from the underside, I would advise against doing it. I've added glow-maps to various items in the game that I felt should have reflective parts or paints, such as the traffic cones and bollards. Unfortunately the stop lights and the parking meters, if you use them, will remain illuminated after being knocked down. I haven't figured out how to stop this affect. There are optional textures for the motorcycle in one of the folders. The two police cars and the taxi are currently not in-game, I wanted to replace some of the bare car frames with them but the game keeps throwing up errors. If you can get them to work, inform me how you did it, and I'll list you as a co-author. Conflicts =========================================================== ===================================================================== Any mod that alters the vanilla meshes and/or textures of the replaced items. Install ============================================================= ===================================================================== 1. This should be manually installed, you might be able to get one of the installers to work with it, but it would be hit or miss for the most part. 2. Extract the files to a temporary location. 3. Examine the folder structure and make corrections or alterations where necessary to fit what you want to install into your game. This is why I didn't make this into a BA2, so you can pick and choose what you want to install. Known bugs/Issues =================================================== ===================================================================== There might be minor clipping. I did raise the meshes via NifSkope to minimize the effect on most vehicles, but since there is major clipping with the vanilla game already, it's not really an issue that is readily fixed. I haven't figured out how to add the effect to a movable static object and have that effect move with, as in the construction barricades, or stop when the object is moved, as in the case of the parking meters and stop lights. - Any help it this matter would be greatly appreciated.
