LOOTBALANCE - 1.5.4 created by Herby https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/41121 A customisable loot re-balance/reduction mod that's as close to the vanilla balance possible. This mod is for people who find themselves with too many useful items, and want to feel the challenge of scarcity that was much more prevalent in previous games, and is glaringly absent from Fallout 4. DETAILS ======= This mod reduces the appearance of - Stimpaks, Radaway, and Rad-X and other health items - Enhancement Chems - Food and drink - Grenades - Bobby Pins - Valuable Junk - Ammunition Optional modules are added to change various other gameplay features, some more than others. For further details and description, see the mod page. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/41121 REQUIREMENTS ============ - Fallout 4 up to date COMPATIBILITY ============= DLC patches are available during installation. Mod Compatibility Patches are available during installation for: Armor and Weapon Keywords Community Resource 8.51 - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6091 Valdacil's Item Sorting 9.0.3 - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3877 VIS-G Item Sorting 2.7 - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/33383 Give Me That Bottle 2.6a - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13193 Scrap Everything 2.5.5 - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5320 LootBalance and should not be used in conjunction with any loot overhaul/rebalance mod. It will very likely conflict with any mod which modifies Levelled Lists or World/Interior Cell References for the items detailed above. If you're using mods which modify the same Levelled Lists or Cell references, I recommend they are loaded after LootBalance. No Fusion Cores in Fours is included with LootBalance, and should not be installed separately. No Fusion Cores in Fours - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/41096 The Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch is not required for this mod to work, but changes it makes to relevant records are included. Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598 The optional patch LootBalance Survial is incompatible with any mod which changes the stock script HC_Manager. I've checked some of the top Survival mods, and these include Survival Options and Survival stats widget. Many other mods still work such as Survival Mode Console Enabler or Unlimited Survival Mode - F4SE. INSTALLATION ============ == Load Order == Regardless of which installation method you choose (below), LootBalance has several modules, a few of which are meant to override eachother, so correctly setting your load order is important. LootBalance_Health.esp and LootBalance_Extreme.esp must be loaded after basically everything, but before any patches for other mods. The Extreme module must be loaded after the Health module. Failure to sort your load order properly won't break your game, but might result in unexpected behaviour. Any patches for other mods must be loaded after their corresponding modules. Any patches for LootBalance_Health.esp (e.g. LootBalance_Patch_VIS_Health.esp) must be loaded after said file *and* any patch for the modules listed above. If you have mods which conflict with LootBalance, I recommend setting them to load after it. == Installer (Recommended) == Download and load the file with your chosen mod manager, and the installation process will let you choose your configuration. If installing with Mod Organiser 2, the installer will not function properly. Instructions to fix this are available in LootBalance\fomod_MO\README.txt, or on the first step of the installer. If using a custom installation, it is possible the patches for VIS, VIS-G, and AWKCR will not be available, due to limitations of the installer. See below in the Patches section to install the patches for these mods for different modules. To uninstall, disable the mod with your mod manager, or remove the plugins and other resources (Textures, Meshes, etc.) from your Fallout 4\Data folder. When uninstalling manually, ensure no other installed mod relies on the LLLLInject_BETA.pex file found in Scripts, as this is a third-party resource. Your Mod Manager should detect if another mod is using it, and leave it accordingly. == Manual == If installing manually, you will need to carefully select the modules you wish to install, or risk modules conflicting with eachother, causing the mod to not work as intended. IMPORTANT: All modules require the LootBalance_Core.esp module, found in the main directory, so this should be extracted to your Fallout 4\Data folder first. For an easy installation, extract these files found in the root directory: LootBalance_Core.esp, LootBalance_Comprehensive.esp to your Fallout 4\Data folder, followed by NoFusionCoresInFours_1.esp and LootBalance_Automatron.esp (if you have the Automatron DLC) found in the "Other" directory. LootBalance_Comprehensive.esp requires the Automatron, Far Harbour, Nuka-World, and Vault-Tec Workshop DLCs. Further configuration, individual DLC patches, and mod compatibility patches must be installed using the instructions below. = Main Modules = All primary modules have been merged into LootBalance_Main.esp in the root directory. LootBalance_Main.esp requires the Far Harbour and Nuka-World DLCs. A DLC free version is available in the "DLC" directory. Since the DLC patches are required for only one module, instructions for installing them are below. To install modules individually, go to the "Main" directory and extract the modules you want to install to your Fallout 4\Data folder. A guide to the DLC suffixes can be found below in the DLC section. Descriptions of each file can be found below in the Contents section. Conflicts: LootBalance_Medical.esp will conflict with LootBalance_Chems.esp. To install both, use the merged file LootBalance_MedicalChems.esp instead. = Worldspace/Interior Cell Item Removal Modules = All "World" modules have been merged into LootBalance_World.esp in the root directory. This file requires the Automatron, Far Harbour, Nuka-World, and Vault-Tec Workshop DLCs. Individual DLC Patches can be found in the "DLC" directory. In older versions of the mod, World modules could be installed individually, but this is no longer the case. A guide to the DLC suffixes can be found below in the DLC section. Descriptions of each file can be found below in the Contents section. = Health Adjustment Module = The Health Adjustment Module can be found in the root directory, named LootBalance_Health.esp. This file requires the Far Habour and Nuka-World DLCs. Individual DLC Patches can be found in the "DLC" directory. This module conflicts with many others, and is meant to override them, so adjusting your Load Order is important. Requirements: LootBalance_Health.esp requires all directories in the "Data" directory to be extracted to your Fallout 4\Data folder. Conflicts: LootBalance_Health.esp must be loaded after the LootBalance_Main_xx.esp, LootBalance_Medical.esp, LootBalance_MedicalChems.esp, LootBalance_FoodDrink.esp, LootBalance_Extra.esp, LootBalance_ItemJunk.esp, LootBalance_ItemFood.esp, and LootBalance_HealthFood_xx.esp files. LootBalance_HealthWater_None.esp must be loaded after LootBalance_Health.esp or LootBalance_Comprehensive_xx.esp. I'd like to note that you wouldn't have all of these files in you load order at once. = Extra Modules = All Extra modules have been merged into LootBalance_Extra.esp in the root directory. To install modules individually, go to the "Extra" directory and extract the modules you want to install to your Fallout 4\Data folder. LootBalance_Automatron.esp is the only file that requires any DLC. Requirements: LootBalance_FlavourJunk.esp, LootBalance_Extra.esp and LootBalance_Extra_Base.esp require the Data\Scripts folder to be extracted to your Fallout 4\Data folder. = Other = The "Other" directory consists of files without a clear place, or files that are not properly supported. Most notable is NoFusionCoresInFours_1.esp, which should be extracted to your Fallout 4\Data folder. If you already have No Fusion Cores in Fours installed, uninstall it first, then follow the previous instructions. LootBalance_Ammo.esp, LootBalance_AmmoMean.esp, and LootBalance_AmmoCrafting.esp are experimental and subject to additions and changes. Requirements: LootBalance_Ammo.esp and LootBalance_AmmoMean.esp require NoFusionCoresInFours_1.esp, and were meant to be played with LootBalance_AmmoCrafting.esp. LootBalance_Extreme_xx.esp does not have any requirements, but was built to be played with all the primary modules and the Health Item Adjustments module. Conflicts: LootBalance_Extreme_xx.esp must be loaded after basically every other module, but before any patches for other mods. LootBalance_Ammo.esp and LootBalance_AmmoMean.esp are two difficulty versions of the same module, and should not be installed at the same time. LootBalance_HealthFood_xx.esp should not be installed with LootBalance_Health_xx.esp, as it performs the same task but differently. = Patches = Patches for AWKCR 8.51, VIS 9.0.3, VIS-G 2.7, Give Me That Bottle 2.6a, and Scrap Everything 2.5.5 are reliant on different LootBalance modules. Patches for each individual module are no longer available. VIS and VIS-G have "No Item Weight" alternatives, depending on the type of installation you use. Select the patches you want to install and extract them to your Fallout 4\Data folder. Note that if using VIS instead of VIS-G, then you are likely using AWKCR 4.02, which does not require a LootBalance patch, as such you should not install the patch for 8.51. Two patches are available for Scrap Everything depending on whether you are using the core .esp or the ultimate .esp. = DLC = **IMPORTANT** This section is still relevent if you do not own any DLC! All files for a specific DLC use a suffix to identify them (e.g. _NW is the suffix used on LootBalance_World_NW.esp to identify it as requiring Nuka-World). This document uses _xx as a placeholder for any file which might have a suffix. If a DLC patch is missing, it is because none is needed. The suffixes are as follows: _AT Automatron _Base Base game (No DLC) _FH Far Harbour _NW Nuka-World _VW Vault-Tec Workshop (None) All of the above If you have installed all the DLCs listed above, you can use the merged files, identifiable by the absent suffix. If you don't have all the DLCs listed above installed, you should install the _Base file, then the DLC patches that correspond to the DLC you have installed. The DLC patches don't require the _Base files to work, but I recommend you install them. ADDITIONAL NOTE =============== This is the first big mod I've created, which took many hours of work over more than a month. Its been a very useful introduction into modding Fallout 4, and has taught me a lot - so I hope to create more in the future. If you have any suggestions or feedback, I gratefully welcome ideas or critique. If find any problems, please contact me on the mod page, or file a bug report. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/41121 With update 1.3 I have enabled donations on the mod's Nexus page, as this project has required many hours of work and I hope to continue working on it for as long as possible. Donations are entirely voluntary as a way of saying thank you, and showing your support for continued development of this mod.
