This mod is my take on the "get critical hits outside of VATS" premise. There's a good one already out there, but I thought this idea was a simpler implementation. Each damage perk (Rifleman, Gunslinger, Commando, Iron Fist, and Big Leagues) will give you a 10% chance of scoring a crit at rank 3, 15% at rank 4, and 20% at rank 5. At rank 4 and 5, these crits will be more powerful than VATS crits, which adds an extra layer to combat, in my opinion: Do you play it safe and score a manual crit? Or do you roll the dice and try for a more powerful one? Also, I think rolling these effects into the damage perks adds a nice little reward for specialisation. This mod is not compatible with anything that modifies Gunslinger, Commando, Rifleman, Iron Fist, or Big Leagues.
